The department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology is situated in Bhogawati Building of C.P.R. Hospital, Kolhapur. The bed strength of the department is 100. Labour Room, Ultrasound Room, ANC & PNC Ward are located on the ground floor. The first floor houses Caesarean ward and Operation Theatre, while, second floor has the Gynaec. Ward. The departmental office is located in Panchaganga building below the blood bank. The departmental OPD is situated in Room No. 203 in the OPD complex. This department caters to the poor and needy patients not only from Kolhapur district but also other adjoining districts like, Sindhudurga, Sangli, Belgaum. We conduct around 25 Vaginal deliveries and perform around 8-10 caesarean deliveries a day. Apart from this we perform other major operations like hysterectomy, ovarian cancer surgery and minor operations like MTP, D & C, tubectomy. This department runs special ANC clinic on every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 2.00 to 5.00 p.m. in the OPD. We are accredited to National Board of Examination, Delhi. Under this course 7 post graduate students are persuing their DNB training.

4) Antenatal Clinic – Every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday 3.00 To 5.00 p.m. in OPD No. 203.
We provide iron and calcium supplementation to the pregnant women and detect of high-risk ANC
patients.
5) P.P.T.C.T. Programme (Prevention of parent to child Transmission HIV) under this programme
the trained counselors inform the pregnant women regarding the HIV AIDS the modes of its
transmission, methods of prevention etc. These women are then councelled for HIV testing. HIV
positive women are handled very sensitively and empathetically. Such women are treated with
Anti-Retro-viral therapy for preventing HIV transmission to the child.
6) Family Welfare Programme including of Tubectomy and MTP
7) Janani Suraksha Yojana Scheme. Under this scheme, women belonging to SC/ST Category and
those below poverty line received Rs. 600/- (Urban area) / Rs. 700/- (Rural area)
